March and rally against health care restrictions: M’cr 5 May

Change of date, change of composition of march

Dear All

Join the May Day march demanding ‘Health Care For All’ - Manchester Monday 5th May 2008

Thanks for the widespread support for a march demanding health care for all. Following discussions we have changed the date of the protest for the following reasons.

The Home Office have ‘stalled’ on the publication of their proposals giving details of restrictions of health care for migrants and rejected asylum seekers. The three month ‘consultation’ period has not yet started.

Trades Unions For Refugees (TUFR) and Manchester Trades Council have already called their third annual May Day March with refugees and trades unionists together.

Having a health theme for this year’s march would receive widespread support, especially from health care unions who are already active in defending victimized nurse Karen Reissman, whose trade union branch has been supporting refugee groups for over a decade.

Further details to follow after TUFR and the Trades Council have met.

Put Monday 5th March in your diaries! Together we can defeat their nasty plans!
