Ole, thats exactly what I did at PCT/245! I was working against the ship with the heavy lift. There were also yard operations going on next to us. I told the lift driver to stop as it was unsafe to do our job, and that I was going to stop the job on Health and Safety!!
Of course that was over the radio! And as soon as the company supers heard this, we were moved to another area!!!
I was just hoping that in mentioning the speeding problem we have on the docks, that maybe, just maybe, together we could try and put a stop to it!
Heres a true event that happened one night. A security guard had ask a utr driver to slow down. The response from the driver was f k you!! I just feel as Union members, we are not doing our job, to truly educate our new members and our casuals! I always tell them they should read THEIR contract and carry their BIBLE (safety code book) with them at all times! And anytime they are not sure about something, that is when they should contact their BA. I also realize there is a deeper underlying problem that goes along with this subject.
Thanks again Ole for your expertise!!!
Your sis, Carol
