UltraEx, the first company to go union in S. F. s courier industry, has been stonewalling in negotiations (ILWU-Local 6, SF). They need to hear from the labor and progressive communities that this sort of an approach (bad faith bargaining) is not acceptable. Luckily for us, Ultra has a toll free number through which we can voice our concern. So we would greatly appreciate it if you could send out the word, and if you have any questions please e-mail me or call me at (415)775-0533. Thanks!
In Solidarity,

On June 1, 1999 the Bike Messengers and Delivery Drivers of Ultra Ex Inc. in San Francisco voted for union representation. Since then the union has been attempting to negotiate a fair and equitable contract on behalf of these employees. Unfortunately, these efforts have met with constant opposition from the company. The company stands opposed to affordable health care, sick, holiday and vacation pay, seniority protection and other standard benefits provided for most working persons in San Francisco. THEY HAVE PROPOSED LESSER WAGES AND BENEFITS THAN ARE CURRENTLY IN PLACE.
If you believe as we do, that in the wealthiest nation in the world, at the start of the 21st century, that these benefits should be the right of all working people, please call 1-800-ULTRA EX to voice your support. THAT IS 1-800-858-7239 Leave a message for SAL GRASSIA. Tell him to Negotiate in Good Faith! Provide for your employees now!, that Benefits are a Right and not a Gift! Give them a piece of your mind. Let them know what you think. Tell a friend to do the same. What the heck, its free!! PLEASE MAKE A CALL A DAY. . .
Thank you for your support.
[Make their day. Call twice. . . or three times, so they get the point.]
