I’m a member of good standing in the ILA local 1248. And yes we did sell our soul to the devil. We already get a 1.00 raise in Oct, with one coming the following year. Then no raise the next year and then one the next year. What the hell’s this give us a raise all three years.
Here in the ports of Hampton Roads we have the biggest cranes in the world and you know as I do that Management is going to use them to the fullest. What and why are we going to give up anything to get nothing? They have gotten at least a 4-5 percent increase in container volume into and out of the port for the last 5-6 years, But I know that it is probably more but they ain’t gonna tell the truth about that.
From my standpoint we should not give up a damn thing in the port. Because they have been making money hand over fist for so many years. Where the hell is the reps that are supposed to be on our side? Shoot we even have a legal rep that also works on the management side of the house also. So that tells you what it is that we are going through here.
We need help can somebody help us here. We need it bad.
