Powell’s: Congratulations!

Congratulations to the negotiating committee, and all the workers who supported the union at Powell’s Bookstore in Portland, the staff organizers from the international and of course to those workers on the organizing committee, responsible for the NLRB election victory, last year. I do have one question that wasn’t covered in the “Oregonian” article. Did you get the “union shop”?

I would like to extend a pat on the back to the Powells negotiation team!!! This fight was a good example of the fight Labor is in today and what we can expect from employers when we try to exercise our rights. It’s so good to see success in the face of adversity. I only have one question. . . Who’s next?

Right on Powells, Last October I had the oportunity to shop at the store in Portland. We were wearing our big hook jackets and smiling the whole time. Who could resist this family, God bless all the new brothers and sisters. . .
