Around 2, 700 dockworkers (employed on the quayside) promised to stop the Port of Santos from 7am today, if the Union of Port Operators in the State of São Paulo fail to implement the Regional Labour Tribunal (TRT) decision to award a 7% adjustment, retroactive to March, plus 50% night allowance. “We have a 90% chance of going on strike, not for a mere protest but because the operators have flouted the determination of the TRT,” said the serving President of the Union of Port Workers (Sintraport), Valter Leite de Santana.
