The financing forms for the Program of Voluntary Layoffs (PDV) for the Santos dock workers will be discussed on Monday between the technicians of the Federal Economic Agency and workers representatives.
The talks were scheduled in a meeting that took place this morning at the Palace of Planalto, between Santos Mayor Beto Mansur, union representatives and the executive secretary of the Presidency, Silvano Gianni.
The unions want a line of credit of R$75 million (Brazilian currency) for the PDV, which would benefit close to 2 thousand workers belonging to several different categories.
Currently, according to the Mayor, there are 11 thousand workers registered in the Port of Santos. That number represents almost twice the number of workers that are required after the port was modernized. The idea, according to Mansur, is to carry out new PDVs for the remaining categories of dock workers.
