ILWU International President Jim Spinosa has sent the following memo out to all ILWU locals, regions and affiliates:
All ILWU members who are going to Columbia, South Carolina for the demonstration in support of the Charleston 5 should meet at the assembly spot at the Memorial Park in Columbia in front of the church at the corner of Gadsden and Washington at 11:00 a. m. so that we can all march together. Be sure to be wearing your ILWU colors and bring your local banners. South Carolina Attorney General Charles Condon has announced the court date to try the five Charleston longshore workers on felony rioting charges stemming from their picket line action. The first day of the trial will be June 25, 2001.
