The next meeting of the Charleston Five Defense Committee will be:

We had 40 people at the last meeting. We established subcommittees to work on speakers and labor outreach, community outreach, and literature. If you’d like to get involved in one of the subcommittees, please get in touch with me, and I’ll put you in touch with the appropriate folks.
The criminal trial of the Charleston Five now appears likely to take place in mid to late October, possibly as late as early November. As you may know, Rev. Jesse Jackson and Operation PUSH have called for a national march on South Carolina earlier in the fall. Locally, we’re making plans for substantial educational outreach, leading to a major mobilization as part of the international day of action on the opening day of the trial. We also hope to bring Ken Riley to the Puget Sound again before that time.
