Irish Ferries Lockout Protest

Liverpool Social Forum
7 Dec 2005

The RMT and Initiative Factory are sending a 40-seater coach TODAY (Wednesday 7th) to Holyhead to protest at Irish Ferries plans to summarily sack their irish ferry crews sailing between Ireland and Wales and replace them with casual crews recruited from eastern Europe.

In response, officers and ratings have barricaded themselves in the engine and control room of two ferries, one of which is at Holyhead.

I’m fairly sure there will be spare seats so anyone interested should come along to the Casa, 29 Hope Street, Liverpool between 9. 30am and 10am with banners.

Can this message be forwarded to merseyactivist list and anywhere else useful.

We’ve probably all used these ferries and most of us will be opposed to casualisation, lower safety standards and export of jobs the cynical move by Irish Ferries will cause.
