Iranian solidarity message

Dear Comrades, Friends and Colleagues,

Your struggle is not just defending your job and life but it is 'win or lose' for the whole of the working class in Britain and abroad.

We think that the international solidarity action, the refusal to handle the freight in the US, Canada, Australia and the solidarity from Sweden, Spain, Iceland and other dock workers in the world is important and hopeful.

It needs to be spread to the whole globe, in terms of spirit and financial assistance. More important and vital is solidarity in Britain from dockers in other ports, workers from other industries and unions. It is necessary to find ways to stop the employment of scabs.

Ruling class legislation - which aims to impose this condition and lock out the workers who are the real owners - should be thrown back in the employers' face.

Colleagues, our jobs and lives cannot be secure under capitalism, which is based on profit and not on the needs of human beings, unless we build a workers' state.

We support the resolution from the Merseyside port shop stewards' committee in the solidarity conference of Saturday 27 April 1996.

Once again we express our solidarity.

Your struggle is ours!

Long live international workers' solidarity!
