Sweden's dockworkers' union Svenska Hamnararforbundet has decided to delay every vessel of giant shipping company Atlantic Container Lines coming into Gothenburg port for up to 12 hrs until the sacked Liverpool dockers are reinstated.
This follows the recent visit by Bob Ritchie and Jimmy Davies jnr.
Companies calculate delivery times to the minute and expect shipping companies to turn their vessels around in the shortest possible time. The cost of the Swedish dockers' action to ACL can be counted in millions of pounds.
It's the same story from every part of the world where Liverpool dockers have gone - no matter what the language differences, workers speak the same language!
'Support in Sweden is excellent,' said Bob. 'Our brothers and sisters have certainly proved international solidarity works. We have met some marvellous people.'
'As well as this terrific act of solidarity by the dockers, there have been occupations of ACL offices by the Syndicalist movement in both Stockholm and Gothenborg.'
'We would like special mention of Bjorn A. Borg, Peter Shaw, Jan Annerback, Kenny Karllson, Bosse Johanson - all Swedish dockworkers - and Lars Hammerburg and Sharoach Razavi of the Syndicalist movement.'
