Statement in support of the sacked Liverpool dockworkers
We the BTB and CVD fully support the 500 sacked Liverpool dockworkers in their campaign for full reinstatement back into their port. They were dismissed by their employers, the Mersey Docks & Harbour Company, last September 1995 for adhering to the basic trade union principles of supporting the youth of their industry and not crossing picket lines. We the BTB and CVD in the ports of Antwerp and Zebrugge call upon the ACL and CAST shipping companies to cease trading with the port of Liverpool whilst the use of strikebreaking labour is being used to replace the recognised workforce. If these demands are not met by ACL and CAST shipping companies we the above mentioned unions pledge to take whatever action is necessary in order to bring a speedy and just settlement to the sacked Liverpool dockworkers' cause.
