Pleased to see that debate has commenced......
Presumably Alan would condone 'illegal' action by capitalists
at 'Labour' Laws designed to 'bring to heel' recalcitrant employers?
Here in the UK whatever the colour of the Ruling class in Parliament,
at least the mass of the working population would acquiesce in the 'rule of
law'....however reluctantly !
This feeling of the population ,we ignore at our peril. It has meant a
looooong time
sitting on the fence of 'opposition'....impotent.!
It seems to me as if 'academic support for the Dockers is of little use and
will not result in a positive outcome for them.
Practical support from the 'brotherhood' will also not easily be
forthcoming whilst the perceived 'illegality' of the action continues.
It seems to me that if a representative of a Union that does not support
the action of the Dockers, performs some action that clearly
would breach that position,is acting....as they say ....'ultra vires' the
rules. :-) and should consider his position ...or his superiors should.
Representing members is the prime object of Senior Reps. Not private
agendas.
Following the rules is a civilised procedure.Yes I know about how important
it is to disregard the rules when ....and here quote all manner of
examples.
:-)
I see that Jack Heyman made his protest and took the honourable step.....
My congratulations and respect goes to him and he is still expounding
the Dockers views from his new surroundings.
Ex Senior Rep MSF GEC too.
