Bernard Cliff Hospitalised, Talks Postponed

Port Operations Director and chief negotiator for the Mersey Docks and Harbour Company Bernard Cliff, 45, is "stable in intensive care, with head and abdominal injuries" after a car crash, according to a spokeswoman for Warrington Hospital NHS Trust.

Talks involving the company, union, shop stewards, and ACAS (Advisory and Conciliation Service), adjourned on 7th November and due to resume 13th November, are now provisionally scheduled for 21st November.

Bernard Cliff has played a leading role for MDHC since September 1995 when the dispute began. Port shop stewards have expressed sympathy for Mr. Cliff following the accident.
