Amsterdam 21 May 1997

PRESS REPORT

At the beginning of this year we said in a leaflet that it would be a hot Spring. Well, now it looks like it will be a hot summer too.

Casualisation started years ago and now it's the turn of Amsterdam.

The bosses keep us like a puppet on a string and they don't want to give any guarantees that we will hold our 305 jobs. Everytime they come with: "In a few weeks we know more".

They don't give a dime for good working conditions and we all know they like us to work for nothing.

Well, in Amsterdam it's enough now.

Tomorrow 22 May 1997 we strike for 24 hours.

They won't listen, so this is meant as a serious threat and we will show them our strength.

We all know, it's the same struggle and we are fighting against the same monster.

On behalf of the united alarmed dockworkers,

Ron Wiechels
Secr. of the works council de Arbeidspool

Rotterdam follows in the evening-shift at 16.30 hr also for 24 hours.
