"All For One"
The Worldwide Day of Solidarity for Locked-out Liverpool Dockworkers
On Jan. 20, 1997 workers in ports around the world
- from Tokyo to San Francisco to Stockholm - staged actions in
support of dockworkers locked out by the Mersey Docks and Harbour
Co. This new video brings together footage from this global action
day as dockers carry out protests and work stoppages in unity
with the heroic Liverpool dockworkers.
Scenes include: Liverpool
cranes occupied to bring operations to a halt; port of Stockholm
at a standstill & interview with representative of the Svenska
Hamnarbetarforbundet; protest at the Ooi port (Tokyo) & interview
with President of Tokyo Dockers' Union Council; ILWU protest at
the British Consulate in San Francisco as part of actions shutting
down West Coast US ports.
- Shows global solidarity against deregulation
in docking
- A strong message of labor's international
resistance to privatization
- Proceeds go to supporting the locked-out Liverpool
dockworkers.
