Dockers meet in Sète and Dublin to plan boycott

Following the 2nd International Dockworkers' Conference held in Montreal in May, delegates from the ports of Marseille, Le Havre, L'Orient, Calais, Bordeaux, Brest, Bastia, Fos, Liverpool, Montreal and representatives from the Spanish Dockworkers' "Coordinadora" representing dockworkers at all Spanish ports met in the French port of Sète on Saturday 21 June.

Discussions took place to co-ordinate a Day of Action in support of sacked Liverpool dockers in line with resolutions agreed in Montreal. It was agreed that the ports in attendance would take part in an international Day of Action and ongoing action against CAST, CanMar, and ACL.

A meeting in Dublin on Friday 20 June agreed a similar committment from dockers in Derry, Cork, Drogheda, Waterford, and Dublin. The unions represented were the ATGWU, the Marine and Ports union, and SIPTU, which organises 75% of all Irish dockers.
