Swedish dockers ready for action for Liverpool

Dear Colleagues,

The good news from the TGWU biannual conference reached us today. It was so good to learn about the defeat of the position of the TGWU Executive. The support of the TGWU including pressurizing the British Government to intervene in the conflict plus international action will surely turn the fight and bring justice and victory to the dockworkers of Liverpool. Our position concerning international action is very clear: we are ready to take action as soon as we know about a coordinated date. We need to know about at least ten days before the actual day of action since we according to Swedish law have to give a seven day notice. As we declared at the successful Montreal conference our action must and will be directed directly towards the Liverpool dispute, i.e. blockading ACL vessels, containers and so on.

Please call me immediately if there are significant developments. I will then be able to organise supportive action here in Sweden and I am sure that, even if the leadership of the Swedish Transportworkers Union seemed to turn their backs on you in Miami, their rank and file members will support our action.

Fraternally yours,

SWEDISH DOCKWORKERS UNION
