Amsterdam, 2 September 1997
The action of this morning was a big succes.
As announced, we blocked the Highway around Amsterdam and went to the Town Hall.
When we arrived under police-escort we asked for the Mayor to speak.
After about half an hour he came out and in front of the men he accepted a list of our demands.
A lot of press was present, Radio, Newspapers and the TV.
I also told them, that dockers have the same problems around the world.
In the afternoon the Arbeidspool was adjudged bankrupt.
So officialy we have been sacked now and we still have to work our term of notice.
The only weapon we have now is actions and put a lot of pressure on the
bosses to find a way to get back to work with the 315 men.
We will go on and fight back.
I will keep you informed,
For now,
Ron.
