INTERNATIONAL DAY OF ACTION 08 SEPTEMBER 1997

TGWU S.A. SUPPORTS 500 DISMISSED LIVERPOOL DOCKWORKERS!!!!

TGWU S.A. SUPPORTS THE WORKERS OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA IN THEIR FIGHT AGAINST DRACONIAN LABOUR LEGISLATION!!!!

On Monday the 08th September 1997, workers internationally will be taking action in support of the sacked Liverpool dockworkers, whose sacking cannot be acceptable to us, not only because these are our long-standing comrades who supported us during our entire apartheid struggle, but also because we support their fight against casualisation in the ports and are fighting the same fight through negotiating the national docks labour scheme.

We are also linking this action to the plight of Western Australian workers organised under the banner of the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) who are currently engaged in a campaign to ensure the reversal of unprogressive labour legislation introudced by the Conservative Government recently elected. Their fight is similar to our struggle of 1988 when the former Nationalist racist regime promulgated labour laws to exploit workers in our country.

We will take our protest actions on the 9 September 1997 to express solidarity with our Liverpool and Western Australian comrades.

Leaflet issued by the Head Office of the Transport and General Workers Union in South Africa.

NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION 09 SEPTEMBER 1997
SUPPORT MARITIME AND GOODS TRANSPORT WORKERS!!!

On Tuesday the 09th September 1997, both maritime and goods transport workers will be taking action in support of their National Docks Labour Scheme and the National Bargaining Council negotiations (Maritime) and wage and conditions of employment demands, both of which are in the process.

Maritime workers say that negotiations on the NDLS must have been finalised by the 31st October 1997 and that negotiations on the National Bargaining Council must have been finalised by the 1st December 1997 or else rolling mass action will accompany further negotiations.

Goods transport workers say that negotiations on wages and conditions of employment must have been finalised by the 31st October 1997.

Forward with the Workers' Struggle, Forward!!!
Long Live Maritime and Goods Transport Workers, Long Live!!!
