Dear Bro. Morris,

At the recent statutory meeting of the Irish Regional Committee a lengthy debate ensued regarding the long running dispute involving the Liverpool Dockers who were sacked for refusing to cross the picket line.

The Regional Committee, whilst knowing the tremendous support being given to the Liverpool Dockers, nevertheless took the unanimous view that what was required now was an international response which we believe would be forthcoming and in that respect the following remit was unanimously agreed. I would, therefore, ask you to bring this remit to the attention of the General Executive Council.

"THAT THIS IRISH REGIONAL COMMITTEE CALLS UPON THE GENERAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL TO IMMEDIATELY INVOKE THE UNQUALIFIED SUPPORT OF THE INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORT FEDERATION IN SUPPORT OF OUR SACKED LIVERPOOL DOCKERS."

Yours sincerely,

J. Freeman (Irish Regional Secretary)
