I see a little problem here.
You are speaking different languages regarding walking Bosses/Foremen. Different ports use different terms for things.
Might help each of you to know something about the other guy’s port.

In San Francisco, there is a gang boss, who is a regular member of that gang, from Local 10. So, if someone hollers for the “boss” get the picture? Whereas someone hollering for a “walker” would be looking for what you know as a ship or dock boss.

In LA/LB there are no such (Local 13) gang bosses. That job is under the jurisdiction of Local 94.
So the gang boss or hatch boss will always be working under the jurisdiction of the Foremens’ Local (though he might be an “elevated” Local 13 member, as Eddy explained). And if you hollered for a “walker” in LA, the only boss you’d probably find is the one who happened to be named Walker.
Not realizing this would kind of dampen your boss manning discussion.
