“one door” policy is NOT based on seniority

I beg to differ with you but the “one door” policy is NOT based on seniority. One half are, the other half are picked by the PMA and contractually they can pick who they want regardless (they have taken “B” men as transfers to both the clerks and foremans locals in the past). And if you look around up and down the coast there are lots of 30 year old clerks, steady crane drivers, and some foreman (well the foreman are in their late 30’s). These are all picked by the PMA in one form or another. I know local 40 just took in a transfer last Wensday night in his early 30’s with about 5 years as a Union man over a number of others with 15 years or more as Union men. And the foremans locals are NOT immune to lawsuits, they have been sued before and will be again... I am not endorsing this practice at all but at times you have have to wonder what goes thru some peoples minds that cause these suits.......
