Hi Jonathon,
This is a good contract. As you study it more you can see significant gains for the retirees ($625 to $840 more per month over 3 years), surviving spouses of retires ($300 to $400 more per month over 3 years) and 75% spouse death benefits after 5 vested years with full welfare.
It used to be 50% after 25 years and no welfare after 4 years.
The wage increase seems about 8%. Pretty good since firstly I wanted to take care of the retirees. I did not think we would get a raise. Retirees could not be a strike issue. The caucus did an excellent job with the retirees. I have been hoping for this for the last 6 contracts.
