Dear Friends,
We were shocked and saddened to hear about the tragic death of Francisco Ramos. On behalf of the 500 sacked Liverpool Dockworkers, their families and supporters can we pass on our deep sorrow and condolences to Franciscos Wife and Family.
Francisco or (Paco as the name we got to know him by) had a tremendous record in fighting for workers rights both at home and abroad. He did so much to promote the International Dockworkers Movement and was widely known and greatly respected by Longshoremen and Dockers the world over, where his passing will be greatly mourned.
He attended the first international conference in support of the Sacked Liverpool Dockers and during his week long stay, gave so much encouragement to all the men and women involved in the struggle. We will never forget his leadership during the International Mass Picket, his speeches to the conference and his wonderful singing during the social evenings.
To all of us here in Liverpool, he was a great man who gave us so much inspiration and a wonderful human being.
Yours in Solidarity,
Jim Nolan
