The ILWU Local 10 Executive Board and the Labor Action Committee to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal are co-sponsoring a public forum, LABORS FIGHT-FREE MUMIA! The forum will feature greetings to workers by Mumia Abu-Jamal, and video footage from the April 24th march of 25,000 people in San Francisco, which was led by longshore workers who shut down all ports on the Coast for the day to free Mumia.
Speakers include: Jack Heyman of Local 10 ILWU Exec Board, organizer of the port shut-down to free Mumia; Bob Mandel, Oakland Teachers Association site representative, and leader of the Oakland schools teach-in on Mumia and the death penalty; Carl Bryant, of Local 214 of the National Association of Letter Carriers, San Francisco, which has supported Mumias case; John Reimann, of Carpenters Local 713, and a wildcat protest leader; Daniel Garcia, brother of San Francisco Teamster Mark Garcia, killed by police; Gerald Sanders, of Peace and Freedom Frank Little Club, former Black Panther, and IBEW member; and Karega Hart, President of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1574, and Black Radical Congress.
