My heart Bleeds for locked out longshoreman........NOT
The longshoreman of BC are unhappy once again! The lowest- paid worker down on the docks is getting (according to the province paper) $44,850 a year, and now they want a $7,680 increase to bring their base salary to $52,530
These poor men. My heart just bleeds for them. What about a school teacher who had to go to university for five years and has a starting salary of less then $30,000a year? Or a kid with a masters in business who is luckily to start at $35,000 to $40,000?? Ask a longshoreman how he got his job in the first place? Id bet my next paycheque it wasnt based on his education but who he knew or was related to.
Do the longshoreman have the right to earn a living? Certainly.
But when a union such as the longshoremans has the ability to practically shut this province down they have too much bargaining power. And what is really sad is while the rest of us bite the bullet while we try and get this province back on its feet, those cry-babies will get exactly what they want because they always have and always will.
Sorry if I dont have a lot of sympathy for a group of already over-paid, under-worked people who think it is their right to get a raise in pay regardless of what is happening in the rest of the province.
