PACC could be fought

PACC merits watching and as much action as possible. Aside from the obvious pressure which might be brought to bear from within our industry (if our people were on top of things and had some balls) there are some factors which may indicate a vulnerable political aspect to this ugly scenario.

New methods being developed in this country threaten to make synthesised rubber more and more competitive with the imported natural product.

The rubber industry already supports over 11 million people in that country.

Long-term projects to greatly increase raw rubber production is vital to the (now highly vulnerable) government in Indonesia.

The Indonesian Rubber Research Institute indicates that they are well on their way to accomplishing their ultimate goal of making Indonesia the world’s number one rubber producer. (they are second now)

The U.S. consumes a shitload of the 90+% rubber exported as Standard Indonesian Rubber (SIR)

Do any of our people have political connections that they can use for anything besides photo ops and gratuitous up-sucking?
