Message of Solidarity

Dear Tom,

After reading on the internet about the lock-out of the 2000 longshoremen in the Port of Vancouver, we would like to pass on a message of support and solidarity from the 500 sacked Liverpool Dockworkers and offer what ever help and assistance we can give.

The global attacks on unionised labour by port authorities the world over are never ending, as witnessed first hand here in Liverpool and more recently in the ports of Australia and must be opposed by the International Trade Union and Labour Movement.

We still have many direct contacts with good comrades from longshore and dock unions in ports all over the world and have just recently hosted a working party on behalf the newly formed International Dockworkers Council (IDC).

If you feel that you need to call for wider solidarity action from the international community, we can put all these contacts at the disposal of the Vancouver Longshoremen.

We wish you a speedy victory,

Yours in Solidarity,

Jim Nolan
