Emergency Rally to DEFEND Mumia ABU-JAMAL! - Seattle

Report by FSP

Protest the court decision
Rally Friday, March 28, 4:00 – 7:00pm
Federal Courthouse, 700 Stewart St., Seattle

Your presence is crucial!

This morning, journalist, former Black Panther, and political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal was denied a new trial by a three-judge panel of the U. S. Court of Appeals.

At the same time, the panel refused to reinstate the death sentence against Mumia. But the threat of the death penalty is not gone! The prosecution is free to pursue it again through a new jury trial that would be limited to reconsidering only Mumia’s sentencing and not his conviction. The only options would be life in prison or execution.

Mumia’s life is in our hands! His legal team will appeal this decision, and the courts need to hear our voices at maximum volume. Speak up against the racism, fraud and bias of this case and of the U. S. legal system as a whole.

Friday demonstrations are planned across the U. S. and in numerous other countries.

Framed for the killing of a Philadelphia policeman in 1981, Mumia’s case has brought to the foreground issues such as the right to a fair trial, the inhumanity of the death penalty, and the system’s particular vindictiveness toward Black radical leaders.

Defend Mumia and all political prisoners!
