SAY NO TO BUSH AND BLAIR - STOP THE WAR NOW

Supporters of the Anti-War Protest - Growing in Numbers across Manchester

South Manchester holds successful rally - Green Party, CND, Coalition against War and Sanctions in Iraq, Socialist Alliance - and pledges further local activity.

As in other parts of Greater Manchester, the activity in support of “Greater Manchester Coalition to Stop the War” is growing in strength.

Two events to note for this week:

* Tuesday 24th October at 7.30 at Friends Meeting House, Organising Meeting for Greater Manchester Against the War (including events already agreed and needing planning - e.g. regional demonstration on November 10th and national demonstration November 18th) all welcome

* Thursday 26th October at the “Enforcement Centre” in “Dallas Court”, South Langworthy Street, Salford at 10.00 am (protest at the new methods of “enforcement” now introduced to make people seeking asylum travel up to 25 miles to check in - this centre is built by privatisation agency and american prison builder Wackenhutt - and sited in Langworthy “regeneration” area - the protest is organised by the Committee to Defend Asylum Seekers and supported by Salford Socialist Alliance)

.... for it is no coincidence that the legal victory against detention centres - before Sept 11 - has now been reversed by the court of appeal..... “war against terrorism” means war against the world’s oppressed and disadvantaged, who are often the victims of terrorism

just as, noted from a weekend newspaper, the following heading says it all:

“War Against the Taliban: Tanks Roll into Bethlehem”

NB that all financial contributions to stop the war would be gratefully appreciated - cheques can be made out to “Greater Manchester Against the War” (GMAW) and sent to 24 Brundretts Rd Chorlton Manchester M21 9DB.

STOP THE WAR!
