538 GMB members at ASDA Washington SAC2 distribution depot will begin a 3 day strike from midnight 26 July after ACAS failed to get talks started between the company and the union in the dispute over pay. GMB members, who are employed in the ASDA Washington SAC2 distribution depot, last week voted by 3 to 1 to take strike action on the 27th, 28th and 29th July. This will be the first action. The dispute is over this years pay offer which has been rejected by the ASDA Washington workers. Mark Wilson, GMB Organiser said, GMB members are not satisfied with what the company has offered. The company offered these workers a 10% rise earlier this year if members gave up collective bargaining which they refused to do. The strike will be solid and will impact on ASDA stores across the North of England. ASDA will have to improve its offer. The company need to get back to the negotiating table and sort out a deal with the members.
