National Solidarity Day - Wednesday 5th Dec

Karen - a nurse and a trade unionist for 25 years

• promoted 15/6/07 and suspended 15/6/07
• sacked 5/11/07 for speaking out against cuts and privatisation
• sacked 5/11/07 for telling people she was suspended and that she was innocent

UNISON health executive have called a “Solidarity Day” on Wednesday 5th December to support Karen and 150 of her colleagues who are on indefinite strike for her reinstatement. This is during her appeal and one month after her sacking. It is suggested supporters have lunchtime protests at hospitals and other workplaces. This will be happening across the country and is already planned for North Manchester General Hospital, MRI, Wythenshawe Hospital, Harpurhey social services, Manchester Town Hall, and more.

Even a small protest with placards saying “XX hospital says don’t silence our NHS workers this Xmas – reinstate Karen Reissmann” in workplaces across the country will have an impact. Please try and set something up locally.

b) Write to Alan Johnson, secretary of state for health on johnsona@parliament.uk

d) Invite karen or a striker to address a meeting 07737 300 859
