From Employment Zones to Enjoyment Zones

Activists from Bristol Benefits Action Group (BBAG) today turned the local Labour Party office into an 'Enjoyment Zone' to protest against the introduction of employment zones, the cutting of benefit entitlements to asylumseekers, the extension of the New Deal, the cutting of social security spending in the budget and to have some fun...

Bemused party workers were offered the chance to join in the fun as BBAG activists played party games.

When party reinforcements were drafted in, they were met by a series of arguments against New Labour policies. The action lasted half an hour or so and the occupation ended without the police being called.

BBAG then went and distributed leaflets at the job centre to explain the action to claimants. Other claimants groups and action groups are invited to join in the fun and to set up enjoyment zones in their areas.
