The signatories below demand the immediate clarification of the murder of the teacher’s leader Néstor Segundo Herrera who was found brutally murdered May 1 in his house of Commodore Rivadavia.
As part of the struggle supported by diverse sectors of the province, comrade Herrera had an activity highlighted in the teachers’ struggle. When the comrade was not present for his normal duties some people looked for him and found his body in his house with his throat cut. We know that robbery was not perpetrated in his house, except for the portfolio of activities of the strike. Also know that other social organizations and numerous unemployed comrades have been threatened.
For that reason we demand the immediate clarification of the facts, and we hold the provincial government responsible for the physical integrity of those fought of that county.

Teachers leader of Commodore Rivadavia found with his throat cut, 1st May.
We are asking that trade unions and community organisations demand that the killers of a teacher’s leader in a province of Argentina be brought to justice.
Nestor Herrera, a teacher of the 722-Prospero Palazzo school, situated in the northern area of Rivadavia Commodore, Argentina, was found with his throat cut during the night of 1st May. Next to the corpse, his cat was also found with its throat cut. Nestor Herrera was a member of the Commission of teachers that is leading an indefinite strike in that area, school classes have still not begun.
His family connects this crime with the strike and are not surprised because he had previously received threats and a portfolio of documents had recently been stolen that included many documents in relation to the strike. Nestor was one of the negotiators with the government on behalf of the teachers’ assembly.
This teacher was a sympathiser of the FOS (Socialist Workers Front) and they say that he had told them that he had received threatening telephone calls including one when the funeral March music was played over the telephone.
The FOS consider it of the utmost urgency and importance to start a campaign to demand the investigation of the murder and punishment for the murderers; to also demand that the provincial government of Chubut takes responsibility for the protection of the life of teachers involved in the fight and the life of political and union militants that are supporting that fight.
