Tehran bus workers union calls for further action; union leader still in jail; two detained workers released
Following a meeting on Saturday, the executive of the Union of Tehran Bus Company Workers (Vahed) called for a protest assembly outside Evin Prison or the Islamic (National) Assembly over the next few days. The exact date for the action has not been confirmed yet.
In a further development, two drivers detained during Saturdays protest (see Update 7), have now been released.
Workers have appealed to international labour and human rights organisations for urgent action in support of their demands and the immediate release of Mansoor Ossanlou. Ossanlou has been in prison since 22 December without any charges.
