Letter to Saturn workers

Fellow Workers,

I am writing on behalf of the CAW Left Caucus to inform you that we are keenly interested in the outcome of the current round of contract negotiations at Saturn and want to express our full and steadfast solidarity with your struggle against the nightmare that is the Saturn system.

We, along with auto and auto parts workers in many other countries around the world, have been truly inspired by your courageous struggle to get rid of the infamous Saturn Memorandum of Agreement. We enthusiastically support your efforts to bring your collective agreements into line with the UAW-GM National Agreements. Furthermore, we see your efforts towards achieving that end as a real source of hope that a meaningful pattern agreement in auto, based upon real parity in compensation levels, can be restored in the U.S. We know that as long as the Saturn Memorandum of Agreement remains in force and anti-worker profit-sharing agreements continue to negate meaningful parity among U.S. autoworkers our own pattern agreements in auto will not be safe.

Finally, we want to say that if it becomes necessary to strike Saturn to achieve your just demands you can count on us to do everything within our power to support you until victory is achieved.

Solidarity Knows No Borders
